Dental braces can help with the following tooth position anomalies:
Spacing (gaps between teeth)
Open bite (front teeth in upper and lower jaw don’t get into contact)
Anterior and posterior crossbite (upper teeth are overlapped by the lower teeth)
Displaced center line (midlines of upper and lower jaw don´t match)
Crowding (teeth have no enough space and push themselves into unnatural positions)
Overbite (front teeth in the upper jaw are too far in front of the lower teeth)
Narrow arch (one arch is too or too large to the other one)
Deep bite (front teeth in the upper jaw cover the lower teeth and lower front teeth bite on palat)
Dental braces - types
Fixed dental braces
Bracets are firmly fixed to the front teeth surface. Fixed dental braces are the optimal solution for patients with permanent dentition, where the length of the treatment process depends on the state of the patient’s malocclusion and dental and parodontal health. The dental movements depend on brackets positioning and used wires. Thanks to ceramic brackets and white arches, or lingual bracket positioning or plastic material of aligners, an aesthetic appearance of the appliance can be achieved. According to the materials from which brackets are made from and also according to their location on the teeth several kinds are known.
According to the bracket material, we divide dental braces into:
Metal - the most commonly used brackets for fixed dental braces on the teeth. They are accurate, durable, affordable and with good mechanical properties.
Ceramic - transparent, aesthetic brackets with a strength comparable to metal. The price of this material is a bit higher.
Sapphire - very strong (sapphire is the second hardest mineral), with the most aesthetic vestibular brackets for teeth movement, so the price is higher.
Depending on the location of the brackets, we divide fixed braces into:
Vestibular dental braces - positioned on the front surface of the teeth. Vestibular movement is the most common form used in orthodontic practice to correct jaw and teeth defects.
Lingual/invisible dental braces - positioned on the inside surface of the teeth. An advantage of lingual dental braces is especially the aesthetic aspect, being almost invisible during normal conversation.
Removable dental appliances are a good alternative for patients with mixed dentition. The patient removes the removable appliances from his or her mouth. Removable dental appliances can have different designs, shapes and forms (usually consisting of a resin body, wire clips, and screws and springs). Removable dental appliances are less effective when compared to fixed dental braces. The final result and efficiency of treatment depend on cooperation of each patient and length of wearing through the day. Their proper wearing may prevent any other further treatment. On the other hand they are used as a pre-treatment before brackets can be fixed on teeth. Removable appliances are also used in a retainer phase of treatment, after the braces were removed.
For the correction of larger dental anomalies, fixed dental braces are more often preferred type of dental appliance. The only thing which is changed regularly is the wire. Depending on type of wire a different tooth movement can be achieved to reach final result. Very important part of successful treatment is proper home and professional teeth cleaning and food limitations.
Dental braces costs
The price of dental braces may differ based on the type and technology used, as well as on the materials and quality of the components. The price varies widely, ranging from EUR 495 to EUR 6000. For more detailed information about prices, we recommend that you discuss this during a dental examination or, for a rough idea, we recommend viewing page 8 (Jaw Orthopaedics) of our price list.
Adult braces prices
The cost of dental braces for adults and children is essentially the same. (In the case of an adult patient, it is no longer possible to count on further growth, and the treatment options are therefore somewhat more limited in the event of major anomalies.)
Prices of invisible braces
The prices of invisible dental braces also vary, depending on whether they are fixed or removable. Fixed invisible dental braces are cheaper than a removable invisible apparatus. The price range is shown above.
